Changes to recurring meetings sends out cancellation notices

I made a change to a recurring meeting and Outlook sent out cancellation
notices and then meeting updates. About 1/3rd of the people accepted the
update first and then opened the cancellation and clicked on "remove from
calendar". So they missed the meeting. How can this be done so that this
doesn't happen next time?

Version of Outlook? Are you syncing with a blackberry or similar device?

We experienced the same issue this morning. We are on outlook 2007 and
exchange 2003, all service packs applied.

The user who had this happen doesn't have a blackberry or bblackberry
software installed. She is using a HP laptop.

I'm hoping to find the reason behind this, and whether this is normal or
not. If there's a solution to fix this, that would be even better.
