I attempted to change a computer that was originally
configured for a business domain to connect to my home
workgroup. I changed the name of the computer, joined
the workgroup (it said welcome to the new workgroup) and
re-booted. When I try to log back on, an error message
comes up that says "The system could not log you on.
Make sure your User name and domain are correct...." Not
sure what to do from here....

Help is appreciated!

try use (E-Mail Removed) (replace domain.com with the domain in which
your computer was previously disjoined from) if the domain was win2k or
w2k3. or try the administrator's account.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it didn't work.
How do you identify the domain on the log on screen?
Supposedly clicking on options reveals it, but it doesn't
on my computer.

Do you still need to log onto the domain, ever?
If so, you'll need to bring the computer back to the network where the
domain is and ask the domain admin to rejoin it. He or she will need to know
the local admin credentials.

If all you care about is getting in, see
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/lostpass.htm
and/or
http://securityadmin.info/db/faqresu...CATID=Optional

You'll need to take ownership of the old domain profile folder in order to
access files within it, after you do get in
