How do I change the font size of a hit counter that I have entered onto a
webpage?

You have to change the image the hit counter uses.
See http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/HitMeFP.htm for a program that
generates images easily.
When you insert, or change properties for, the hit counter, choose a
custom image and browse to the new image.

Do I insert it from the Web Component drop down? When I do that it just
brings up 5 choices to select. I can't do a custom image or browse to a
different image. I hit finish and it brings up a hit counter properties
windows that has 5 differnent styles to choose and then a Custom picture.

It's been a long time since I used a hit counter.

Save the page - this makes life easy.
Open the hit counter properties - double click on the counter if it's
already on the page.
Select Custom Picture
Type in the path to the new image.
Click OK

Make sure you've saved the image to a folder inside your web,
and that the image has been published to the server.
Also, you did let paint convert it to a .gif image...correct?

What is the name and file extension of the hit counter image you made?
It must be a .gif image.
