i saved my project in the dv-avi format, but it still
won't burn on a dvd cd. where do I change the settings on
the nero program to change from a cd-r to a dvd so it
will burn on a dvd player

Nero has in the top right corner a cd and dvd box, click the dvd one.

On my version 6 and 5.5 the box you mentioned was on top "left" :-S

Just checked mine, V 6.3.0.2, and it is top right, how weird???????
