Change selection color

I am working on a Powerpoint template where the color of
the title text has been formatted to be white. The
problem is that when I click in the title area to type,
the selection color is also white. The result is that I
cannot see the text I am typing. Is there a way to change
the selection color to something that will contrast with
the text?

Thanks for your help.

Change the background color in the color scheme to something dark, if you
have PowerPoint 97 or 2000. PowerPoint 2003 and 2002 take care of it for
you automatically.

The background color scheme already is a dark blue. The
text on top is white. When I click in the text box, the
selection "block" turns white too. The dark background
doesn't make any difference. (I have Powerpoint 2000).

Do you mean that the slide background is dark blue? I was referring to the
background color in your Color Scheme. Go to Format > Slide Color Scheme.
Click on the Custom tab and you'll see what I mean.

I have tried that; the problem is I'm working with a
standard corporate layout for our company and it can't be
altered. The background for the title is dark blue, and
the remainder of the page where the text will go is
white. If I change the "Fills" specification under color
scheme as you mention, then the entire white section
changes color.

Is there some standard way of changing the text select
color in MS Office programs? For example, if I'm in Word
and select text, the background of the selected block is
black and the text turns white. What would I do if I
wanted to change that selection color to green, for
example?

Thanks,
Patty

Change the background color in the color scheme as Sonia explained. Then
reset the white on the template by going to More Colors in the paintbucket
icon. Choose white from the color wheel instead of from the color scheme
color swatches.

See the color schemes pages at my site -- http://www.echosvoice.com -- if
you want more information about why colors change (or don't).

Thanks, I followed your suggestions to the letter and it
still didn't work. It really has to do with something
internal to the program, not the color scheme, background
color or text color of the current presentation. The
template I'm working on was created in Powerpoint XP,
while most of us still have Powerpoint 2000. The woman
who created it gets a black selection block when she
clicks in the title box (therefore she has no problem
seeing white text against it as she types), but the rest
of us get the white selection block as soon as we click.

Thanks for your suggestion,
Patty

If this happens on the same presentation, then I have to wonder if there's a
video driver problem at fault.

Try setting your display properties to a different color depth (ie, High color
instead of True color or whatever - the terms vary; ask if you need help on
how to do this)

If that doesn't help, try this:

That's because in PPT XP, this problem was fixed. Since that version was
released, you always get a contrasting background when typing in a textbox,
no matter what is set in your color scheme.

It's an issue with the color scheme. I promise.

Oh, another suggestion -- see what's set in Format/Background. It's possible
to have that set differently than what's specified in Format/Slide Color
Scheme and on the slide master itself.
