Change SelectCommand

I have a SqlDatasource SelectCommand string that I want to use a multi-table
view when in read-only (ItemTemplate) mode and a single table when in edit
(EditItemTemplate) mode. Is Page_Load the best place to do this or do I
need to do it prior to Page_Load? Thanks.
