Change RAID controller drivers in order to boot into XP

I would like to upgrade a 3Ware 6000 series card running
RAID 5 under XP Pro to a 7000 series card as the 6000
series performance is poor running RAID 5. The problem is
that I have installed XP on the array. I would like to
figure out how to change the driver in XP w/o being able
to boot into XP. According to 3Ware the 7000 series card
will read an array created with a 6000 series card as the
configuration is the same.

Can I use the XP install CD to load the new driver from a
floppy into the XP so it will boot / run?
I seem to remember doing something like this years ago
with NT 4 by going through the motions of a install /
repair but then closing it down just after the option to
load a 3rd party SCSI driver was completed or was it
using HAL???

Any help would be appreciated. Re-installing the OS, all
drivers and software on the primary partition is not
something I want to do for x-mas.
