I know the Windows key + E will open an explorer window showing the contents
of My Computer. Can I change the settings so it will automatically show at
first sight the contents of My Documents?

You can change the behavior of Windows Explorer view when it opens not the
Shortcut Key behavior. Read the article below to learn How To Customize the
Windows Explorer Views in Windows XP?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/307856

Set the default folder view to My Documents as described in Article.

Hope this is what you are looking for, let us know!

I am sorry, but this is not what I mean.
When I start the Windows Explorer from the Start Menu, I begin in My
Documents, because I have already changed the properties of Explorer, to
start in: %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

But this DOES NOT change the behaviour of the natural keyboard shortcut that
I mentioned. The keyboard shortcut will STILL open Windows Explorer,
beginning with My Computer, and NOT with My Documents. That is the whole
issue, which I do not know how to change.

I tried my best but didn't find a way to modify the inbuilt Shortcut key.
Maybe, you were the first one who ask about this. I never care about his even
before I send you my last post, I just read the article and hope that it will
work. But I never think that Shortcut Properties [Windows Explorer] and
Keyboard Shortcut [WinKey+E] are not working similiarly.

However, I didn't find a way to modify the WinKey+E shortcut key even not
through Registry but I have a little trick. Maybe you already know about it
but take a look.
Do as I said in my previous post regarding modifying the Windows Explorer
Target properties through Start - All - Programs - Accessories and meanwhile
give a shortcut key in the same properties box e.g. CTRL+ALT+1. Next time use
CTRL+ALT+1 instead of WinKey+E.

Hope you like it, let us know anybody find a way to modify the inbuilt
shortcut key.

Thanks, this is a funny little program. You still CAN'T change the "WinKey +
E" properties, but it is funny.

This post is just to share information. If you don't use Num Pad of your
keyboard then it could be the bestest short pad for your 10 favorite
programs. Single Key shortcuts. As I described before, create a shortcut to
any of your favorite program and folder any where you like and then
right-click choose Properties. While Num Lock on, in the Shortcut Key dialog
box press 1 from Num Pad. It will display "Num 1" as shortcut. Press Ok.
Whenever you need to open that program or folder just press 1 from Num Pad
and there you are.

Hope you like, let us know!

Here is the trick that can make it work :
1. Install WinKey
2. End Winkey if it is running
2. Click Start > Run > Type "regedit" (without quotes) > Click OK
3. Go to key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Copernic Technologies\WinKey\Shortcuts"
4. Right side, make a new string(REG_SZ) value named "69" (No quotes please)
5. Double click it and set its value to "C:\windows\explorer.exe|/e, D:\||0|" (No
quotes)
Don't change anything now. First test it. If that works then change D:\ to
anything you like.
6. You can now use "WinKey + E" shortcut to open D:\ or anything you like.

i found this on (but this will not work without some corrections i made above
after experimenting):

I forgot some steps :

Step #3 -Disable Windows Keyboard shortcuts
First download tweakui and go to Explorer > Uncheck "Enable Windows +X hotkeys"

Step #4 -Restart explorer
Open task manager > Process tab > Right click explorer > End process
File > New > Type explorer > OK
