If a computer is sold that includes Xp home what is the process to change
owners with Microsoft? The original cds are long gone (a 3 year old DELL)

Thanks.

You don't need to change owners with Microsoft. To change the registered
owner in the operating system:

However, you would be wise to get replacement XP installation media from
Dell or purchase a retail version of XP. With second-hand computers, it
is always best practice to wipe the machine and do a clean install.

You don't need to change anything with MS. Their only concern is with
activation which has nothing to do with who owns the laptop.

Actually, I was thinking of erasing all dell logos and repaint the box. :>)
