How do I override the SPTP Outgoing Mail Server to smtpout.secureserver.net?
It appears the default POP3 address is being used.

In your account settings you can specify different servers for SMTP and
POP3.

The steps tend to vary based on the version of Outlook, so, what version?

When I send mail, watching the progress box it shows "Incoming mail"
receiving mail wxyz.com" and Outbox "sending:mail.wxyz.com". I need it to
show sending:smtpout.secureserver.net" It won't recognize the items I have
set manually

Ah, that text isn't talking about the *server* it is connecting to, it is
talking about the name of the messaging service in the profile.

If you go to Tools - Account settings, is the name of the account
'mail.wxyz.com'? I'm going to wager it is (or it is whatever it says for
'sending:blahblahblah').

So, the problem isn't to do with what it says there, it's something about
connecting to smtpout.secureserver.net. If you go to Start - Run - cmd, and
at the command prompt type 'telnet smtpout.secureserver.net 25', what
happens?

Greetings,

I typed in the cmd command as directed and the connection failed. I
will just use the "web-based email" as it was originally set up and forget
about using Outlook. It has become too much hassel.

You are, of course, free to do whatever you want, however that test, where
you tried to connect to the SMTP server directly, shows that the issue isn't
with Outlook, but is instead with the operating system itself, or that of
your ISP.

When I go to the newer computer, it rejects the settings. Could this be a small differennce in Windows XP Home and Windows XP Media? That is the primary difference in the two computers.

It could be a difference in software installed on the system. If you try
the telnet step on the machine that works, do you get a different result?

On the machine with the problem, try 'telnet maila.microsoft.com 25'. Does
that connect? If it doesn't, try 'telnet 205.248.106.64 25'. Does that
connect? How do these machines connect to the Internet? Is there a proxy
server between you and the Internet?
