I have a network icon and an internet connection icon that are the same in
the systray (two little monitors). How can I change one of them to a
different icon?

Unfortunately, this is not possible directly through Windows XP. Only one
connection status icon exists.

If there's one icon you don't necessarily care about, you can turn it off
(open Network Connections folder, right-click the connection, and uncheck
"Show icon in notification area")
