Hello William,

Give this a try:

1. Start-> Settings -> Control Panel -> Regional Options.
2. Under the General tab in the Regional Options dialog box, check Simplified
Chinese; and/or Traditional Chinese) by clicking in the checkbox next to those
languages listed under Language settings for the system. You may need to scroll
down to see the language options you want. You may be prompted for a Windows 2000
Professional CD-ROM.
3. Next, click on the tab for Input Locales, and then add the language input
options you want by clicking on the Change... button under Input Languages and
Methods.
4. In the Add Input Language dialogue box, choose Chinese (PRC) from the drop-down
list under Input Language, check the Keyboard Layout / IME button, and then pick
Chinese (Simplified) - MS-PinYin 98. Then click OK.
5. You are now back to the Text Services dialog box. Note that Under Chinese (PRC)
/Keyboard, Chinese (Simplified) - MS-PinYin 98 is now listed. Click Apply and then
OK.
6. Exit from Text Services and from Control Panel.
7. Once Chinese language support and IME have been installed , there should be a
Language bar button (EN) on the right hand side of the taskbar at the bottom of the
Windows desktop. If you left click on it, then the language input options you have
installed should appear. Scroll to the language option you want, in this case
Chinese (PRC), and left click to select it as an input option.
8. Near the lower left corner of the desktop a small menu for the options in
Chinese (Simplified) - MS-Pinyin98 should appear. On this menu, the option to
toggle between Simplified and Traditional characters will appear. (On the menu, it
is immediately to the right of the keyboard button for those who don't read
Chinese! )
9. Now when you launch WD2000 and try to type, you will be typing in PinYin. As a
word is being typed, a choice of possible characters should appear. You can press
the correspondiing number on the keyboard to select a character or use the mouse.
10. You can toggle between English and Chinese using the Chinese menu (first button
on the left) or using the Language bar button (toggle from CH to EN).
