MS Access runtime has a key that I need to change, but it is in the HKCU
tree. I have a lot of PCs that a lot of people share so I don't want to
have to have everyone logon to every PC that they ever touched just so they
can import this setting into their HKCU tree.

How can I import a setting in the HKCU tree to every profile (and the
default profile) on my machines automatically. I have been restorting to
login scripts, but that is not going to take care of the profiles on
computers that are rarely used.

Key for what? The application may have a means to deal with it.

I want to do several things like turn off the personalized menus so the
users see all my buttons and menus. I know the users can go to Tools ->
Customize and do it themselves ( but since when do they do things for
themselves ).

I can't just have a .reg file with the HKCU setting in it because that only
solves the problem for the current user that fires up the .reg. I have many
users that have used many PC on the network and sometimes it is months
before they go back to that PC for something so I would have to leave the
..reg active on the login script or something forever and I don't want to do
that.

I want to have this over and done with in one shot by updating the default
user profile and all existing profiles at once.

You can't since the current user hive is only loaded when the user is logged
on.

How does MS do it when they install their products. For instance, if you do
an administrative install of Office or something and you change the
preferences for the macro security that does not just change the current and
future users. It also changes for existing profiles as well.

As I said the application may have a means to deal with it. Typically the
user would have no office keys until after the install and also after the
first logon since the install. Ask in office.setup
