The best way to change the IP address on a DC is to first add the new IP to
the server. Then run netdiag /fix which will cause the registration of the
new IP. Then check the bindings on the DNS server, DHCP server, and WINS
server to make sure the new IP is bound.
Configure DHCP option 006 (DNS) and option 044 (WINS) with the new address,
make sure the static clients have the new address for WINS and DNS.
After you verify that the new address is registered in DNS with netdiag
/test:dns /v and replication is working without errors with DCDIAG you can
remove the old address from the DC and delete the old address from the WINS
database.
Repeat the process on all DCs that you are changing addresses on.
Anytime you want to change IP on _any_ mechine netdiag (On the server CD or
download from
http://download.microsoft.com) is your best friend. I keep my
copy of netdiag on a network drive so I can access it from any machine I'm
at.
