I would like to change font size for footnote but each time have to do it
manually. It is set at 12 and I want it at 10. Annoying thing is that when I
click on styles and formatting it says that footnote text not currently used,
so I can't update to match selection

With the insertion point in the footnote text, you can right-click the
Footnote Text entry and choose Modify. In the Modify Style dialog box,
change the desired settings. Before clicking OK, you should select "Add to
template" if you want to transfer the modified style to the attached
template.
