Change font to size 12 default in composing pane: Outlook

When I bring up Compose New Message in Outlook, the font is very small,
about a size 6. How can I make this size default to 12 every time I bring up
the composing pane?

I have a similar problem when I attempt to print out a letter or article.
The selected printout is printed in small, almost unreadable print--about 6
size font. How can I make this default to a 12 font?
