If I am entering grades and a student makes above say 95 and I want to have
that score in blue, but another student makes below a 72 and I want that
score in red, leaving all scores in between in black, can this be done?

Select all the values, then do format conditional formatting, condition1
cell value is greater than 95,
format font as blue, add a condition2 with cell value is less than 72,
format font as red.
