My boot drive is designated drive E. I want it to be drive C. What do I need to do to make this change?

If you have programs installed this can be very difficult because the
programs shortcuts and registry entries have the e: drive. A third party
software such as partition magic has a remapping tool to change all the
entries. This, however, is not always a guarantee that everything will work.

Your boot drive was probably designated E: because you had a ZIP drive
(or other temporary block device) connected when you installed Windows.
The best way to have E: designated as C: is to reinstall XP with the
temporary device physically disconnected.
