i am using winxp professional on both computers.

when i drag and drop and item on my home pc it moves it to the new
location, which I like. but when i drag and drop a file on my work pc,
it copies the file in the new location, which i do not like. i would
rather ddrag n drop moved the file without copying it.. how do i manage
these settings?

thank you

bri

If you (left-click) drag files between 2 different drives then they are
generally copied. If it's within the same drive then they are moved.

To give yourself the option you can drag with the right-click mouse button
instead - which is a better habit to get into anyway imho.

thanks so much...

but that still leaves me wondering.. why is it different on my 2
computers? one copies when left-dragged, the other moves the file when
left-dragged... i move alot of files so, the extra click using the
right-drag drop-down method becomes tedious after a few moves.

thanks again bri

My suspicion would be that you are dragging the files between 2 different
drives on your work pc, and within the same drive on your home one.
