How to change download notification settings

I just got a new computer with windows vista, but I am used to XP settings.
Whenever I download a file, a window pops up showing me the download
progress. It is the window that shows you recent files you have downloaded,
and has a "clean up" button to get rid of that download history. I find this
window annoying because I have to close it every time I download something
(as opposed to having the option of having that window close automatically
when the download completes). Is there a way to make this download
notification disappear? or change it to the XP -type notification that Im
used to.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice, I actually just figured out how to fix it. I have
Mozilla Firefox installed, and it was under "options". I thought it was a
setting in Vista, not my internet browser. thanks again
