How to change the default SNMP community string?

What values should be used when changing the SNMP string with in the
registry. I know where to find the
entry(HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\ValidCommunities) but I do know if only certain values should be used.
