Change default 'save as...' file type to *.msg (not HTML)?

Is there a way to set my preferences/default so that when I save a message,
it automatically defaults/selects "message format"?

Our system at work deletes e-mails every 30 days (including messages in
Outlook folders), so I have to save most of my e-mails to my hard drive.

I save all of my e-mails in .msg format, but would like to avoid having to
select this 'file type' every time, or worse, forget to select it, and risk
'not saving' attachments (also, I am unable to just drag e-mails to my hard
drive, because I need to change the file name).

Thank you...

Not possible. It even deletes it from the pst-files? Consult your network
admin and/or manager on the procedure of storing important messages. Saving
everything in msg-file is the least effective method and costs you a lot of
time, increases fragmentation level and virus scanners have a hard time
scanning all those small files and will cause a lot of overhead.
