Hi:

Just wondering if there is a way I can tweak the registry so that when
I choose jpeg files and then click the command "Email this file" and
the prompt comes up that asks me if I want to keep the files size as
original or have the files resized for smaller photos, I can change
the default setting under the "Make all Pictures Smaller" option from
the Small setting (640 by 480) to either the medium or large settings
for every time I choose the command.

Thanks!

Brooks

The only way I know to have these option sizes would be to prepare the files
at the sizes you want and then e-mail them.

Image Resizing

To decrease the size of the file for e-mail, web publishing, etc.

Go to this site and download the free Image Resizer. Exe file in one of your
folder.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

Once in your folder, double click on it to install it.

Once installed, you right click on a photo file (or on a group of selected
photo files).

Click on Resize image on the opening menu.

A window will open, select the size you want.

New files will be added in your folder, same name as original file but with
the word (small) or (custom) added.

The first time you use it, you may not see Resize image on the opening menu
after you right click on a photo file or if you see it and click on it, it
may not work. If so, do the following:

Click on Run, click on Start and type the following in the textbox:

REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL

and press the Enter key.

Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI.

You should get a "success" message after pressing the Enter key.

Also, you can download a free photo editing software from here to resize
pictures and edit photos:

http://irfanview.com/

or another free software:

www.faststone.org

From this last one, you can directly e-mail a picture and it will
automatically resize it.

Another free one to do the same is:

www.picasa.com

Picasa has a nice feature to exchange pictures with friends under "Hello"

Thanks, but by default, if I use the "email this file option" the
setting for make my pictures smaller is selected and that by default,
under the see additional options menu, is for the smallest resolution
available, 640 by 480. I am trying to change the default image size
to the large setting, 1024 by 768.

Yves,
Is there an equivalent "Image Resizer" that will install and run in Vista yet?
Thanks.
