HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons
Create new value:
3
Set the value-data to the path of icon, index

Good Luck, Ayush.

Yes. See "Shell Icons" section here:
http://www.mvps.org/serenitymacros/icon.html

There is also a sample file OpenFolder.zip containing an .ico file (green folder icon)

EXP:-
" RIGHT CLICK ON DESKTOP > select NEW >then FOLDER "

...................... result to creation of "new folder" on desktop of
yellow color in xp.

Can this be possible through REGEDIT that we can change this yellow

Have you tried this:
Open Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File types tab. Scroll to "File
Folder" and click the Advanced button. Click Change icon button. It
might be just "Folder" but the Change icon button is unavailable.

Hello red_spider,

The trick Ayush and Ramesh gave you *will* do what you want; but you
need to refresh your icon cache first. Here's a quick way to do it:

After making the registry change, right-click on the Desktop and choose
Properties | Appearance | Advanced.

In the drop-down Item list choose Icon. Change the size from 32 (or
whatever it is now) to 33. Click OK in that window and the previous one
-- you'll see a "Please Wait" message and the desktop will refresh.

Then go back and do the same thing again, but changing the icon size
back to 32 or whatever it was originally.

Now any folders you have on the desktop should have your chosen new icon
and the "New Folder" will also :-)

Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

That does not work for Folders, Terry. Only option is to use the "Shell Icons" key to changes the folder icons globally. To customize the icons on a per-folder basis, use the Desktop.ini.
