I am running Vista Aero which I love. However, the "drag" highlight is such a
light blue that when I select multiple items in Explorer I am having a
difficult time seeing how many I have selected and where I have moved-copied
them.

I have gone to Display Properties and into Advanced - Aero and changed the
colour of "Selected Items". However, this is not the same one. This is the
colour that shows when you click on a name when you want to change it. It
accurately turns the item dark blue like I have requested. However, the drag
- highlight is still light blue.

Anyone have any idea how to change it without losing the features of Aero
like the see through etc. I have also tried changing the colours of my
windows in the basic screen. Have a nice dark purple now but that highlight
is still pale blue.

You're an idiot. He has a specific problem and is looking for a
solution. The fact that the original post was two years ago is
irrelevant. Buy at least a size larger shorts.

This is something I'd like to change, too - the pale blue just needs
strengthening a little - but I couldn't find anything on it when I first
installed.
I would've thought the colour code would be stored in the registry
somewhere.

To change color of Selection Bar, try this:

1) Right-Click on Desktop
2) Click on "Personalize"
3) Click on " Windows Color and Appearance" at top
4) At bottom, click on link which says "Open classic appearance
properties for more color options
5) Click on "Advanced..." button
6) Under "Item" pull down drop-down list by clicking on small downward
pointing arrow
7) Go down to "Selected Items" in list. Click on it to select it.
8) Pull down drop-down list underneath "Color 1"
9) Choose color wanted for Selection Bar. I'm using Maroon. Looks
great.
10) Click on "Ok"
11) Click on "Ok" button in Appearance Settings Page.

This should change the color of the Selection Bar pretty-much
throughout Windows and your applications.

To change color of Selected Text in Vista

1) Right-click on Desktop
2) Choose "Personalization"
3) Click on "Windows Color and Appearance" at top
4) Click on hyperlink at bottom which says "Open classic properties
for more color options"
5) Click on "Advanced..." button
6) Under "Item", pull down pull-down menu
7) Move pointer to "Selected Items" and select it
8) Under "Color 1:", pull down menu and choose color wanted for
Selection Bar.
9) Click on "Ok"
10) On Appearance Settings page, click on "Ok".

Your selections throughout Windows and your apps should change to that
color. Unfortunately, that doesn't change selection bar in some
pulldown menus.
