Finally. Actually I dont have my vid card yet and monitor so it
doesnt make much difference but it is in stock if you want to get an
ULTRA nforce4 board for a reasonable price - they upped it as all the
places seem to do now. Constant price fluctuations depending on supply
demand situations. Anyways it was 116 I think and then 129 and now 135
bit much better than the gross 175 prices Ive seen on other ultras.
The only board thats close is the Gigabyte budget chip nforce4s (there
are 3 classes - budget, ultra and SLI) which are now pushed up to
150-170. Besides the chip differences --- the giga does I think have
firewire which the Chaintech does not. Thats the main difference I
think. It has built in sound - not the good Soundstorm2 that some
predicted that they now say will come in a PCI express card , but it
has I think pretty much what all the other boards have except firewire
I think.
Buy now or later? Not sure. I was even thinking of waiting since I
wont get my vid card and monitor for a few weeks but if supplies dry
up again Ill kick myself. If a flood of new boards come on the scene
dropping Ultras with firewire down to $116 again of course Ill kick
myself too but thats less likely. I think theylll try to sell the
ultras in a higher range as long as possible of course. One reviewer
found one problem when he was overclocking them. Hope they fixed that.
ZZF great prices at the moment - $155 retail 939 3000 and $135 on
chaintech vnf4 and only $10 handling fee, free shipping. Now I just
have to wait for my ATI card and Viewsonic.
