Hi,

does anyone have a tool to get a removeable CF-Card "fixed" ? I don't care
for manufactorer because i don't think that it will make a difference.

(my cf: Fujiflim Highperformace 2GB)

Because when i install that Card in my CF-IDE Adapter and then in my PC,
even standard XP Professional or W2K (OS installed on standard harddrive - CF
is Secondary Master) fails to complete the bootsequence. W2k gets its booting
progress bar half the way and then the system hangs with HDD LED on.

?

Thanks

Every manufacturer has its own utility that must be used to mark the cards
of this manufacturer as fixed.

If you put /SOS switch in boot.ini you may be able to see were it hangs.
Also, KD (kernel Debugger) will may show you more info, especially if you
use debug version of nt loader from DDK.

KM

PS. On www.xpefiles.com you will find a sample (Hitachi microdrive) driver
that ignores the removable bit from the card and forces the system to see it
as fixed. (although it won't help you with boot issues)

Maybe your CF can't boot at all. We tried a lot of brands, we can always
boot Lexar, Kinston, but Sandisk UtrlII can't boot .

To "fix" a removeable drive requires that you get the utility from the
Compact Flash manufacturer. Send them an email they should be able to
tell you the procedure and maybe send you a utility or allow you to
download it.
