I used Cetus CWordpad freq'ly with my old computer so I figured I'd
use it on my updated XP machine.
I DL'd a fresh copy and tested it out.
For a typical one page document it consistently first shoots out a
blank page and then prints the page I want.

Oddly, a work-around is that if I go to the PRINT page and specify to
print from Page 1 to Page 1 then it does not print that back page.

I tried printing the same page with Wordpad and it does not throw the
blank page out first.

Any ideas about settings that require changing?
