I am doing a lot of reading about certificates and installing /
uninstalling.
I am a bit confused... - if someone can help me out a bit that would be
great.
I have vs2008 and would like to create some apps for some friends, perhaps
even sell them to a couple people. - Beer money... nothing too spectacular.
My idea was to use clickonce.
Most of these people do not know much about computers, and that way I can
update their programs very easily without many problems. All they have to
do is 'run' the software, the install and everything else takes care of
itself.
Now because I dont have a digital certificate, it uses a generice one.
However this generic certificate expires in a year.
What happens in a year when if they want another bell or whistle and I
publish another version using clickonce?
It is my understanding the clickonce update will stop working, and they will
no longer be able to install the software from the web ( if I dont publish a
new version ).
Assuming I am correct on the above statement... what are my solutions?
I am not ready to spend $150.00 usd and up per year for some dummy apps out
there.
Will changing the install to a setup project fix my problems? Of course,
then it is not as automated as before.
Thanks,
Miro
