I am having trouble pinpointing the source of the
problem. I can not access a few certain sites, nor can I
see images hyperlinked (such as avatars) from them.
Previously they were working normally and could be
viewed. Is there some setting on my pc or browser that
has been activated recently that I am unaware of? What
causes certain sites not to load? Please help. I'm just
trying to see some pictures of my friend.

Images/Pictures

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.
If still no joy then have a look at this page for other issues.

Not being able to access some sites.
It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.

If you did not create the file, then you may have parasites, or you are
using a web accelerator program that would be causing this problem.

I tried all the suggestions you listed, but still the
site in question will not work for me. I am completely
stumped.
