Have used shared borders to set up header and left hand navigation on page
and want the page to appear centred no matter the size of the browser window.
How do I do this. If I can't use shared borders how do I ensure header and
left hand nav appear on each and every page?

Shared Borders cannot be created in a way that gives you a centered page.
You will need to use a template mechanism such as a DWT. A DWT allows you to
create one template file where you can define regions that are editable so
you can put your regular page content within these editable regions. You can
craft the DWT so that the header is the same on all pages as well as the
link navigation on the side. To get it to center you need to put everything
in a table that has a certain size, for example 760 pixels wide is good as
it fits 800 x 600 browser resolutions with enough room for a scrollbar. Then
center the table and it should work nicely.

Thanks Mark - I will soon have to transfer the site into SharePoint, do you
know whether I can still use DWT in this case?

ok to center the whole page
right click on your page and go to PROPERTIES, go to MARGINS change the
margin to what you want.
top- 0 and left - 44 is good.
also when you do your content on your page, put it all in a table. got yo
the top TABLE and down to INSERT , TABLE then insert your table. Then click
PROPERTIES for the table and click CENTER for alignment. I can be more
specific if you like. THis will make your page centered,. Then when you make
a new page and go to properties you can (at the bottom) take the settings
from the first page so you do not have to keep putting in all details again
and again. Also you can set up te page you want as a template when you are
done and then always use that without repeating all steps. I can also phone
anyone that wants help. My email is (E-Mail Removed) and I will
happily phone and walk you through it.
