Amy,

If a formula in a cell is referencing a date then excel will try and be
helpful and format the answer as a date or if the cell is simply a number and
the cell has previously held a date then once again Excel will try and be
helpful. In either case format as GENERAL or whatever format you want.

Yes, constantly since Excel 2007. Quite a few workbooks has been wrecked due to this bug.

The problem occur when a certain cell format exist and is being set as default (applies automaticly to all cells in the entire workbook).

To solve this, simply delete the actual format. In my case it was [$-41D]MMMM;@

When removed, everything goes back to normal. However, you have to to this on each and every workbook you have. I don?t think there is a general fix (without hard-coding).

/M
