in cell editing using drop downs

Another ACT user here, trying to duplicate the functionality of ACT with OL
2007.
I have a custom field that requires a choice from a drop down box on the
form. If I display this field in a view that allows in-cell editing, I can
type anything into this field, not just what's available in the drop down on
the actual form.

Is there anyway to in-cell edit using the available drop downs for that
field, other than opening the contact and using the custom form?
