I keep getting this message "Ceiling for number of connections reached,
dropping packet". Im guessing its related to UDP transfer thats going on.
WHen I monitor log with Wallwatcher, I see UDP logs zooming by. Its
probably my son downloading a movie. Then the log message above? Its a
Linksys BEFSX41.

How do I set up the router so it will no interrup the download?

thanks

If u double click on that msg, it will give u an explanation, and
maybe what to do about it.

Dumb Q: is the download being actually stopped or are u just thinking
ahead? 'cuz if it ain't stopping, this is normal, and the software is
automatically taking care of retries etc.

its actually stopping and causing the router to hard reset I think.

He is downloading .avi using Mozzila Firefox and a application called Bit
Torrent. I guess Bit Torrent hooks up to several hosts to make downloading
large files faster. I didnt see any setups in there to limit connections or
anything like that.

This is the 2nd new router as i thought the first one was bad.

hi

xp sp2 has a limit in tcpip protocoll, no more than 10 connections in "close_wait" state are
permitted. there will be a note in the systemlogg. this new ms "feature" seriously hinder
programs like dc or bittorrent. there is a non ms patch to fix this.

http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497

bittorrent and dc clients will need something like 200-500 ports...

if this is indeed the case, use more "intelligent" bittorrent clients,
which potentially let u specify a max-connect param.
