Hi,

My both Cd devices in my computer stopped functioning.
They do not read the disks, music or data.
The first one is ACER X52
The second one is YAMAHA CRW 8824E.

O/S XP Pro

It did not happened at the same day, but in a short period of time.

The device manager recognize the CD's and reports that they
work OK.

Is there any diagnostic tool / test that I can run to check if they have a
technical problem, and I need to replace them, or there is another
problem.

Thanks,

Dan

Are both of these drives on the same (secondary?) controller by any chance?
If so try removing the controller in DEVICE MANAGER and then rebooting. Let
XP re-discover the controller and drives. Hope this helps.
