Had to reload XP home following virus. Reloaded all the software originally
issued and all works beautifully except CD RW (Samsung Combo). Easy CD
Creator 4 created problems (not compatible with XP SP2) so removed and loaded
Nero 6 instead. When I try and burn CDs it says that it has been successful
despite the fact that it operates with or without a blank CD and never works.
It can't find the cd drive. I can play all CDs and DVDs no problem.
WMPlayer can burn CDs but is fussy.

On startup I get a message that one or more devices/drivers are being
disabled because they will adversely affect the computer - these drivers
belong to roxio. If I uninstall them I have no CD function at all. Roxio
would like me to buy their up to date version but, no thanks, I don't really
want that.

What can I do? Any ideas?

Hi Mortisha,

There are 2 files and a registry entry that must be removed to
totally get rid of ECDC4. The tool use to be on the Roxio web site.
If it isn't anymore, e-mail me and I will send it to you.

Ciao . . . C.Joseph

Hi Dr C,
Thankyou so very much all is now groovy. The Roxio web site tool exists no
more but following an ecdc4 registry removal search I came up with a
microsoft support address with a very clear step by step removal process.
Thanks again, Mortisha
