i just upgraded from windows 2000 pro to windows xp pro. now i can't access
the CDRW drive anymore and attemping to cause explorer.exe to stop responding.
can anyone tell me the steps to take to isolate the cause of this problem?

General advice is to uninstall the old driver, reboot, and see if the CDRW
drive is autodetected, etc. If not, check for XP drivers and any included
software patches on the mfrs website.
Specific drives may have unique issues, such as updating the drive's
firmware
