CDRW not working correctly

Since I have installed XP everytime I try to write to a
CD it tells me I need to insert a writable cd. I bought
a new drive thinking my cdrw drive went bad. I installed
a new cdrw drive and I receive the same message when I
try to write to a disk. Everything else from both drives
work. They play music and I can install programs from
cd's. It just does not recognize it has a rewritable cd
in the drive when it does. I have tried several
different types of cd's too.

Help Please

If I'm not mistaken, a re-writable cd has to be formatted first. Did you
format first?

He said he was trying to "write" his cdrw. As you probably know, write and
burn are sometimes used inter-changeably when referring to cdrw's. I took it
to mean attempted packet-writing was involved. As to the OP not seeing the
disk, the same happened to me a couple of years ago because I had not
formatted the disk.
