CDRW not Recognised

Hi,

I had to re-boot my system last week as it wasn't
recognising the CDWR when I inserted a disk.
I ran Device Manager and it stated that there was an
Error Code 41, with the message :

"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this
hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"

Apparently a file called CDr4_xp wasn't being recognised,
however this file is listed under
C/WINDOWS/System32/driver.

I've restored the system to an earlier time, however this
didn't help.

Anyone any idea's ???
