After I reformatted and reinstalled Windows 2000 PRO, the
OS viewed the Sony CDRW as a CDROM. I removed it in the
Device Manager restarted the OS and it reinstalled as a
CDROM. The actual listing in the Device Manager is SONY
CDRW, but there is no other indication that it is a
Recorder. Any suggestions on how to have WIN2K see the
device as a CDRW so the recording software will work?

Thanks

The "software" you installed should recognize it as a recorder. Windows
2000 knows nothing of "recorders".
