My CDRW, DVD, and ZIP reported "INSERT MEDIA"
although the media had been inserted and each drive was
being reported to be HEALTHY. Under the command prompt
selecting each drive would report "The parameter is
incorrect."

ONLY when the PC was booted with media in the three drives
would the devices work properly.

All microsoft KBA 314060 solutions did NOT work.

The problem was traced to a conflict issue with software
from MicroAdvantage: QuickTools for the USB QuickiDrive.
Just removed the software and all drives work normally
again.

http://www.microadvantage.net site had a recent update
"Quick Tools Fix for Windows 2000/XP
Resolves conflicts between the CD/DVD Tools"

However with Windows XP that fix reports wrong operating
system and aborts, so just DO not use the software and use
the USB Quickidrive as is without the added software
features.
