cdrom won't record

's Computer Specifications

Recently lost the cdrom icon but was able to get it back. Now, the cdrom
will not record. It plays cdroms ok. The windows media player is
functioning too.
Can anyone help please?

One hopes it is a CD-RW and not a CD-ROM because a ROM drive is read only.

Are you trying to burn using the built in XP burning facility or with third
party software?
