My device (MITSUMI CR-48X5TE) was working now is not. I put a cd in and it
doesn't even show up on "my computer" as a drive. I went to the device drive
and next to MITSUMI CR-48X5TE is an exclamation point in yellow. It also says
it's installed but can not find "hardware device code 41". When I printed
properties it says "disabled device" but when I click on it it says it's
enabled !!!
So confused......someone please help.............have work on cd's
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

CD-ROM Access Is Missing and Messages Cite Error Code 31, Â*Code 32,
Code 19, Code 39, or Code 41 After You Remove Easy CD Creator in WiÂ*ndows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;314060

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
[Start > Run and type: REGEDIT , and hit enter]

2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

6. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value,
if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need
to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

7. Restart your computer.

Hi Carey,
Thanks for answering my problem on the discussion group.
I did what you said but when I restart my computer that # keeps returning
to the registry. My cd rom still is not working and does not show up as a
drive. Now what can I do. I do a newsletter and all my info is on a cd.

Again, thanks,
Diane

Replace the drive. A cd-rom is less than $20usd. If you want to be sure
the drive is not working, you can troubleshoot by:

1. Swap out ribbon cable for known-working one. If that doesn't help,
2. Swap out drive for known-working one. If that works, problem solved.
If that doesn't work, you can possibly put the drive on a different IDE
connector. It is not uncommon for the secondary IDE connector to fail
if your computer is elderly.
