I've had this irk for a while now. They work perfectly, but does anyone
know how to get them back in their proper category?

Thanks

Try disconnecting either one, and then powering up. If no
joy swap the plugged in one and power up, if no joy,
sorry, replace both drives (not completely unheard of -
but be aware that this could be the result of a bigger
problem, possibly the IDE controller is going or Gone -
which means replace motherboard) - sounds like it may be
time for an upgrade!

You can also try removing them from Device Manager and reboot. Also, as
Zagan hinted, install/reinstall the latest chipset drivers.
