Did you upgrade over a previous operating system or did you install clean?
If you installed clean, did you install the burning software you used on the
previous setup. If yes, that is likely the issue as that software is not
compatible with XP and can cause the type of issue you specify. If you
installed no burning software you need to check if your specific CD/RW drive
is compatible with XP.
