I was infected with w32.Jeffo or a varient there of. I believe this has
created some problems with my plug and play system. My CDR-DVD ROM will no
longer recognize discs that I previously burned. It will only recognize
'real' CDROMs or audio CDs. Windows XP SP2 says the drive is operating
properly.
When I insert a disc the drive will spin and eventually My Computer will
hang. The disc is recognized if I boot the system with the disc in the drive.
I don't know if the drivers have become corrupt from the virus, etc. The
infection wiped out my restore points so I have no way to return to previous
settings. I have uninstalled the drivers for the drive and uninstalled the
drive and completed "find new hardware", but the problem(s) persist.
If anyone has an answer please let me know.
Regards,
Fallon
