CDO redistribution

From what I gather Microsoft has stoped redistributing CDO. Is must be
installed via Outlook or Exchange.

Does this mean it is illegal to disbribute the CDO binaries? Or does it
simply mean that now Microsoft does not provide them in a package and we
have to find the binaries the hard way.

CDO is a component of Outlook which you can install with Windows Installer
methods. Check out the Items Command Bar sample add-in at
http://www.microeye.com

Apart from programatically is there any way to invoke the installation via
an EXE etc.

You could write an .exe to do the same thing.
