Hi experts,
i want to make a USB mass storage device(pen drive) as a read only file
system like CDFS to protect the data from end users. i create a iso image and
using linux DD command, i wrote sector by sector of the iso image to USB mass
storage device.
if i insert this USB pen drive to linux pc, it is showing the entire disk as
a read only and i am able to access the files and exe as read only.

but if i insert the same USB pen drive in windows XP, it is asking for
formating the device. it is not detecting the CDFS file system resides inside
the USB mass storage device (Pen drive)

Is there any way to mount the USB pendrive as CDFS file system in windows XP.

Do you wonder why it works on Linux and not XP? This cannot be done
unless you use some kind of 3rd party tool as far as I know. You can't
turn lead into gold.

I use digital camera memory cards that have a read-only
switch on them and insert it into a portable card reader.

It's like a UFD (USB Flash Drive) but with a physical write
protect switch.
