Cd writing problem

's Computer Specifications

Windows Xp SP3. I was trying to copy my ServicePack and Hotfix uninstall
folders to a writable cd and I kept getting errors using Infrarecorder. Is it
because the folders are compressed that I am getting these errors? Can
compressed folders be copied to cd's?

By the way I don't mean compressed Zip folders, but NTFS compressed folders
that are still on the drive in there compressed state.
