I have an HP Pavilian xt973. It came with a cd writer
drive. i've had it for two years now and just recently it
stopped reading my D: drive(witch is the drive my cd-
writer is in. When I go to my computer it does not even
recognize that the D: drive exists. I disconecting the
cables and reconecting them but still not reading the cd
drive. Any help is appreciated thanks.

Steve, I had the same problem with my wife's computer
(xt878) and tried everything. Replaced the drive and it
worked. You probably will have to do the same. Charlie
